How We Help
Discover how Scottish Borders-based charity The Lavender Touch can help you or a family member deal with the side effects of cancer and its treatment
If you or a loved one is dealing with round-the-clock anxiety and stress, along with oedema, skin conditions, aches, pains, night sweats and insomnia – all common side effects associated with cancer – you don’t have to suffer alone.
Dealing with cancer can often be the most distressing and difficult time of your life. Treating, and hopefully curing, the disease should always be left up to the healthcare professionals. However, we do believe we can make the journey a little bit easier along the way.
The Lavender Touch help to fund therapeutic treatments, including massages, reflexology, and aromatherapy, through a number of qualified therapists. This helps to encompass a more holistic approach to dealing with your illness and recovery.
Some of the things we can help with include:
- Stress and anxiety
- Sleepless nights
- Oedema and other skin conditions
- Aches and pains
- Circulation problems
- Difficulty breathing
The side effects of cancer can also take their toll on carers and family members, which is why we extend our service to carers who put their all into helping you through your cancer journey.
Due to popular demand, we’ve also developed our own range of natural products that are freely available to purchase, in order to help you better cope with the side effects of the disease.
How you can benefit from our services
If you and your health professional (whether that be a district nurse, doctor, MacMillan nurse or palliative care consultant, dietician, physiotherapist or occupational therapist) think you’re struggling, they can put in a referral to our service.
For confidentiality and health reasons, all referrals have to be made through the healthcare system.
NOTE: Our service is completely confidential, and you can find out more about what we do, and how our services work, on our ‘What We Do’ page.
