About The Lavender Touch

The Lavender Touch provides complimentary treatments for people who have cancer in the Scottish Borders. These treatments can help people at every stage of their condition and can be given within the Borders General Hospital, the Macmillan Centre, at the local health centre or community hospital, or within the individual's own home. Aromatherapy does not provide a cure for cancer but helps those undergoing treatment for cancer by relieving some of the side effects of these treatments. It also helps people manage some of the symptoms of the disease itself. Some of the things it can help with are - insomnia, muscle aches and pains, lethargy and nausea amongst others. Being diagnosed with cancer is an extremely anxious period and aromatherapy can reduce some of the feelings of anxiety both during this time and throughout the disease process.

Essential Oils for use in Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to aid health and well-being. Pure essential oils are extracted from a plant source, each having its unique properties. Local Libraries usually have a number of books which can guide you to their safe use.

The Lavender Touch aims to provide aromatherapy as a complimentary therapy alongside medical treatments. It is not seen as an alternative treatment for those affected by cancer.

In our first three years The Lavender Touch reached out to over 270 families in the Borders, providing over 1500 treatments for those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
